From Part Time to Full Time: AL

Prospects are one thing, but they are called prospects for a reason.  They have little or no major league track record.  What about the guys who have significant playing time in the big leagues, but have yet to get regular playing time?  We saw what Nate McLouth did last season given his first chance to play everyday.  Who enters that situation in 2009 and what sort of fantasy value can they provide?  Here’s the American League list…

AL East

BaltimoreFelix Pie has gone from a useless prospect in Chicago to a guy figuring to get the lion’s share of AB’s in left field in Baltimore.  I would think .265-.275/15/15-20 is reasonable to expect given the AB’s.

BostonJacoby Ellsbury no longer has Coco Crisp to take away AB’s.  Expect 620-650 AB’s and an increase in most offensive categories.

New York – None so far.  Someone will win the centerfield job, but I wouldn’t be too excited with those options for my fantasy team. 

Tampa BayMatt Joyce may not face too many lefties, but he has legit power and figures to see a good amount of AB’s.  The AVG may be a bit of a struggle though.
