Continuing with our series, this week we head to the north and south side of one of my favorite cities in the world, Chicago.

I know this isn’t really digging deep, but for some reason Carlos Quentin is viewed as a third or fourth round pick while Josh Hamilton is a first rounder. If you think about the fact that Quentin missed the last month of the season and try to prorate his numbers to where they might have ended up, you’ll find a very similar comparison. Hamilton hit for a better AVG, but Quentin for more power. Both should provide 5-10 steals. Quentin is young, he hits in a great offensive home field and is just now entering his prime. I’ll pass on Hamilton in round one and get similar production from Quentin two or three rounds later.
The south-siders are going through a bit of a transition to youth in 2009 and one guy who is on his way out, is my “guy not to have in 2009″ Jermaine Dye. Dye is 35 years old. Players at that age (non-steroid induced) do not get better. As a matter of fact the chances are more likely that a player will not only see a decline in numbers, but could have a complete fall from grace. With so many options to fill your OF spot in 2009, pass on Dye and go with someone who has more upside.
